The Raspberry Pi 3 can be programmed to boot from USB by making a change to its One Time Programmable bit. I’m not a massive fan of this, since it walls off options, but also because I still have Raspberry Pi 1’s and Raspberry Pi 2’s that see use within my network, so I’m writing this to layout the process of provisioning a Raspberry Pi and WDLabs PiDrive bundle (but it should work with other external devices/USB sticks).

I’m beginning to plan out a new project, based some of the things I’ve been doing to manage time for my capstone course at Grand Valley State University. As part of the capstone course, students are required to log the amount of time they spend on a project, and the running total.

Just a quick and short update on my recent activities this time. I picked up a Revo K101+ hardware clone of Nintendo’s Gameboy Advance, mainly for the fact that, as a hardware clone, it comes with a cartridge that will read off of a microSD card. Here’s something I was able to quickly put together, as per programming tradition.

After moving to Wordpress, and then Ghost, both hosted on Digital Ocean, I found myself coming back to Jekyll on GitHub Pages. It’s lightweight, easy to use, and highly customizable. From a productivity standpoint, fewer moving parts means fewer things for me to break and fix.
